Two individuals from the Shelbyville area of east Texas are facing serious drug charges after a recent arrest. Law enforcement apprehended the defendants at an RV park after police conducted an investigation into suspected drug-related criminal activities. After obtaining a search warrant, police did a thorough search of the RV where the couple was staying, taking a vehicle, weapons and other items into evidence.

Serious drug charges

One defendant, a 49-year-old woman, is charged with the manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. She is also facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm and unlawful carrying of a weapon. According to the report, one of the guns found by law enforcement was listed as stolen from another state. It is not clear the specific charges against the second defendant.

The search of the RV and other properties belonging to the defendant found 83 grams of methamphetamine. Possession of a controlled substance is a serious criminal offense, and due to the volume of drugs found, the defendant is facing felony-level penalties. Firearm and drug crime allegations can lead to extensive time behind bars, substantial fines and other potentially life-altering consequences.

An appropriate defense strategy

As the defendants are facing serious charges for possession of methamphetamine and other alleged offenses, they will benefit from seeking the counsel of an experienced Texas defense attorney. An appropriate defense strategy allows one to effectively confront the charges he or she is facing, fighting for his or her future interests. They each have the right to a presumption of innocence regardless of the details of their cases.
