Federal drug charges have the potential to bring serious penalties for a defendant convicted of this type of criminal offense. Two women in Texas are facing allegations of drug crimes after the conclusion of an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Borgen Police Department. If convicted of these crimes, the women face the potential for extensive time behind bars and other consequences that may impact the rest of their lives.

An investigation and arrests

The women were arrested on two warrants that were secured after a drug investigation. It is not clear why the investigation was initiated or what evidence was found by investigators that was sufficient for a judge to sign the warrants. However, both women were taken into police custody and subsequently charged with crimes that indicate they were suspected of distributing illegal substances or planning to do so.

One woman is charged with having a substance that contained a detectable amount of fentanyl and possession with the intent to distribute a mixture. The other Texas woman is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. After their arrest, they were taken to a county jail for their federal holds.

Their defense plan

There is no one-size-fits-all strategy for those facing federal drug charges. Each individual facing these allegations would be wise to take steps to seek an evaluation of their case in order to determine the ideal defense plan for their specific case. There is much at stake in a federal case, and the assistance of an experienced defense attorney is critical.
