The dynamics of certain families can be complex. In some cases, this complexity can result in volatility that leads to conflict. While this conflict can be disruptive, it is usually in the form of verbal disagreements. However, a woman in Texas is now faced with assault charges following a domestic incident in Texas.

The incident reportedly happened on a day in mid-December. Reports indicate that a husband was moving his things out of their home. The couple was reportedly arguing while doing so.

Police say that during the argument, the woman attempted to shoot her husband. However, she allegedly shot her 8-year-old son in his upper chest by accident. The child was transported to the hospital for treatment but is expected to recover from his injuries.

The woman has since been charged with aggravated assault of a family member. Despite the charges and the reports about the incident, many of the details surrounding it are unclear, including the subject of the argument and whether the woman may have felt her life was in danger. Unfortunately, she must now respond to the criminal charges she is facing — a prospect that can seem overwhelming, especially for people in Texas with little legal experience or training. As such, she may choose to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney to ensure that she fully understands all of her option; many people who have found themselves in a similar situation feel better prepared to make informed decisions with such a professional advising them throughout the process.
